Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,

First grade is a place where your child will continue to build a solid academic and social/emotional foundation for their future schooling. I have planned many exciting units for your children. If you can spare some time from your busy schedule to join us by sharing a hobby, talent or occupation to enhance one of these units please write me a note. Your personal experience is very valuable and would add so much to each child's understanding. Learning about our self, our family and our community is an important part of first grade.

You may have questions or concerns during the school year. If so, please do not hesitate to call or write a note.

Show and Tell will be held everyday. Please send your child in with something to share with the class one day a week. This will allow time to give everyone a turn.

A schedule for our special classes is listed below. Sneakers should be worn during gym class.

Day A Music
Day B P.E.
Day C Art
Day D Library

Two nutritious snacks should be sent in with your child daily. We will be having a snack break each morning and afternoon. You may send in lunch or your child may purchase lunch from our school cafeteria. A menu will be sent home at the beginning of each month.

We will be working on a self-concept unit during the first few weeks of school. Please send in a current photo, as well as a baby photo of your child to enhance this unit. I will be using these two photos in a variety of activities during the school year.

I would again like to remind you to send me a note if there are any changes in the person who will pick up your child or the place where he/she will be dropped off. Your child's safety is of utmost importance to the faculty and administration of Chester Elementary.

I hope this letter contains information which is useful. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and helping him/her have a fun, productive and successful school year.

Best Regards,

Linda
