Dear Parents, 3/6/17
Happy Monday to you all. This is a big day for students. Dioramas are due today. Students have brought in their dioramas and I am so proud of their creations. They put a great deal of energy into displaying their animal in its own habitat. They were thoughtful of the best way to plan and arrange their dioramas. I’m so proud of them. We are DONE with reports. They are illustrated and ready for me to “bind” them into a report book. They painted their covers and I had them laminated so that their masterpieces will be preserved. Students worked so hard to complete this project and once again, their care about the outcome and their stamina was the key to their success. A big YAHOO for the Smart City Kids. We hope you can make it for Animal Report day on Wednesday, March 8th at either 9:00 - 10:00 AM or 2:00 - 2:45 PM.
March conferences are set up for March 23 and March 24. Some time will be set aside for early morning conferences that were previously set-up in the morning. Please send in your signed confirmation slip as soon as possible.
Last Friday was an incredible learning experience for students. It, in itself, was a kind of celebration for all of the work done on reports. First, the music teacher, Ms. Gister, read to our second graders for “Read Across America” day. We celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday as she read one of his fabulous books. After that, we went to the Library for a presentation about “Marine Debris”. We saw videos of what needs to be done and solutions for the problem. Ask your student about the deep, sea-diving robot that has helped with the clean-up! After that, we had Yoga with Mrs. Tovey. Then it was time for snack and then our special in the library with Mrs. Moshier. After that, we managed to sneak in a math lesson and then off to recess and lunch. We worked on a few more report illustrations after lunch and “Fundations” and then met with Mrs. Lippincott’s fifth grade buddies in our room at 2:15.
Please look for the conference notice, as well as the permission slip for our coming-up field trip to Bushy Hill Nature Center with our Middletown buddies on March 14th. Please sign and send in both as quickly as you can. Also, notice that there is a chance for you to chaperone and we would love to have you, so please sign up if you can make it. We will leave CES at 8:45 and we will leave Bushy Hill after a packed “bag lunch”, at 12:30. Your children should dress for the weather, because we will be outside at the “Maple Sugaring Shack” learning all about it.
